There comes a time in the professional life of every IT user when it becomes necessary to streamline work on projects. Software tools with useful functions are constantly being improved, and we are always asking ourselves whether we are using the most suitable ones. TITANS was raised on hands-on experience and we have a weakness for innovation, so we want to know who uses what and how it works for them.
Pretty much everyone knows Trello, JIRA and Canva. We’ve decided to focus on a few proven but less common programmes that facilitate the work of many people in our network every day.

We’ve selected 10 diverse applications used by people in the TITANS world in their work on projects, and we’ve also prepared some practical tips.

Malwarebytes

This is a widely known anti-malware tool used in work on cyber security projects around the world. It is known for its ability to remove even the most stubborn and highly resistant malware that other antivirus software tends to miss. It also features a smart technology known as Chameleon that prevents all malware from changing itself.

Practical note by the Titans: One of the best features of Malwarebytes is its ability to run in parallel with other antivirus programmes without them conflicting with each other or slowing down the system. It can detect and remove threats that other tools miss.

Recuva

Recuva comes in handy when you’re dealing with critical data loss. It recovers deleted files quickly and with a high success rate, and it has a very user-friendly interface. It works for hard drives as well as portable devices such as USB drives and SD cards.

Practical note by the Titans: The ‘Deep Scan’ function can search your disk deeper than a standard scan, which increases the chance of finding and recovering files that you have deleted.

CCleaner

This programme is often called ‘Crap Cleaner’, and for good reason: it removes old, non-essential and temporary files from the system. It helps you free up space on your hard drive, making your computer faster and more efficient.

Practical note by the Titans: A great feature of CCleaner is that it also has a portable version, which allows you to put it on an external hard drive, connect it and scan computers without having to install it again.

Slack

According to the Slack brand, their tool is so popular among companies that 80% of  Fortune 100 companies use it for collaboration. The truth is that this application allows you to comfortably chat publicly and privately within teams. It’s clear and user-friendly. One of its biggest advantages is integration with other tools and services that we normally use. For example, its connection to Trello allows you to track tasks directly from the Slack interface.

Practical note by the Titans:
Slack also offers bots that automate common tasks, such as sending daily reports or reminding you of important meetings. This keeps your team informed in real time without having to switch between applications.

Dropbox

Are you worried about losing data? Dropbox keeps them all in safe hands. This software uses advanced encryption techniques and automatically backs up data so that they stay on the servers even if you lose them on the primary device. Your last edits are also automatically synced, making sure you have access to your latest work even if you sign in from a new device.

Practical note by the Titans: One of Dropbox’s greatest advantages is its selective sync feature, which lets you choose folders to be stored on your hard drive and those for storage in the cloud. Another great thing about it is its file versioning feature that lets you go back to previous versions of documents; this is useful for revisions and recovering lost data.

Opera

If you’re looking for an intuitive web browser with robust security and privacy features, then Opera is right for you. It has built-in VPN that effectively hides your IP address, a handy battery saver, and it speeds up communication through the messaging feature on the sidebar.

Practical note by the Titans: Built-in ad blocking and tracking scripts make your pages load faster and also protect your privacy while you browse the web. This way not even the browser will know what you’re searching for.

GitHub

This is one of the best platforms for code sharing between developers. It allows you to store, track and collaborate on the development of digital products in real time. GitHub can also be used as a hub for your personal brand, where you can share your profile as a CV or portfolio and showcase your work.

Practical note by the Titans: You will also appreciate GitHub as a tool for collaboration and for automating development processes. One of its key features is GitHub Actions, which allows you to set up a CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) pipeline for specific projects. Every new code is automatically tested and deployed, which significantly reduces the time required to bring new features to production. In addition to this, pull requests and code reviews help maintain high code quality and facilitate collaboration between developers, regardless of what part of the world they’re working in.

Adobe After Effects

This programme is used by professional game developers, filmmakers, designers and other artists, but it can also be used by regular advanced users as one of the most versatile programmes for editing motion graphics and visual projects. It will blow you away in the creation of high-quality effects and animation for enhancing marketing materials and presentations, etc.

Practical note by the Titans: One of its advanced features is scripting with Adobe ExtendScript language, which allows you to automate repetitive tasks and create complex animations faster and more efficiently. And it can also be integrated with other Adobe tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator, utilising their graphic elements too.

Visual Studio Code

Visual Studio Code is used by developers as a simple but powerful source-code editor. It supports development in multiple programming languages and offers a variety of extensions and integrations.

Practical note by the Titans: We appreciate useful advanced extensions like Prettier for automated code formatting and ESLint to ensure consistent code styling. The integrated terminal function allows you to run commands directly from the editor, which saves time and increases efficiency, and the Live Share feature allows you to collaborate in real time and communicate about ongoing projects.

Confluence

Confluence is a tool that allows teams to create, share, and collaborate on projects in a centralised workspace, increasing their productivity. It acts as a central repository of knowledge and documentation. One of its most useful features is the ability to create and share dynamic pages that contain text, tables, images, and other multimedia elements. This allows you to manage project documentation, share instructions and procedures, and keep notes from meetings.

Practical note by the Titans: Smart integration with the JIRA application allows you to link documentation directly to tasks and projects when you’re working on a project, and it keeps all the relevant information within reach at all times. It also uses templates and macros that help create standardised documents quickly and efficiently.
